TUPUS -  The Urban POP UP Shops is a FREE community event benefiting small black owned businesses while serving families in the Houston and surrounding areas. This event is FREE to the public and is purposed to help the jobless and those under economic hardship prevent homelessness.

Our goal is to support small black businesses and its owners to launch, market, grow and promote their business, services and products by providing resources and vendor spaces. We also partner with community organizations to offer solutions for families in the community to get free COVID-19 testing, fresh produce and food distribution. We also offer an opportunity for our vendors and members to be listed in a preferred business directory to market their products and services.

This event will include community leaders and activists, elected officials and law enforcement to engage the community and support small black businesses and owners in the Houston and surrounding areas who are facing economic hardship.

Oftentimes small business owners are overlooked feel lone, so we welcome them by providing a safe place for them to call home.

Our desire is to be the bridge between the community and small businesses to connect them to help keep our communities economically secure and sound and provide much needed resources to families during these trying times.

Loranda Hellen-Thomas

Founder, Loranda Hellen-Thomas is a business woman and serial creative. She started doing business and became self employed immediately out of college. Even in her teen years her entrepreneurial spirit led her to work for small black owned businesses however that was not good enough. Thus Loranda attended, graduated from Texas Southern University and opened her own pharmacy and medical spa in 2002. Ever since, business has been a way of life for her even after extending her gifts in ministry, government and other non-profit opportunities. She has revamped her passion for ownership and engagement in health and wellness by launching her own CBD and Weight-loss Products while simultaneously creating a safe place for Business Owners to network and build their business through a support system using T.U.P.U.S. as a networking connections for commerce and by bringing together a team of other business owners as partners to curate a one stop shop for businessmen and women to cultivate and innovate their products and services to create a better experience for the consumers.

As an event manager she is pushing not only to establish BUSINESS as a WAY of Life for Urban Business Owners but Houston Bosses as the HOME for black owned businesses to join in community through memberships designed to be a business platform that augments all things by and for small black business owners
